Adriana would stay home full time to care for the children. Eventually, when both her children were in school and with her husband at work all day, Adriana found that she needed a release for her creativity and business skills.

After researching for nine months, Adriana decided to pursue her entrepreneurship in corporate gifts and gift baskets. "People love gifts, but not too many businesses now how to use gifts to build those important relationships," says Adriana, "It is important to keep your company name in front of your clients...And the beauty of using a gift program is that it can be done on a small scale in slower economic times."

In October 2000, Adriana designed and launched her site ABCGiftsAndBaskets.com and she operates her business both on and offline. Her offline business is operated locally in Virginia. The most important thing for success of a home based business says Adriana is, "being organized, balancing your family and your business, making yourself visible by networking."

To promote her site, Adriana has researched Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization. She takes advantage of advertising opportunities, product branding and has a regular newsletter. In addition, she ensures she has a good density of keywords in her website text and using good linking strategies ~ and not just linking for linking's sake.

Since starting in October of 2000, Adriana's business has experienced a 50% growth each year, and she intends to repeat that growth in 2003. Her business plans include working on an affiliate program, she has hired a sales representative and will be looking for more to help build her business.
