What Does
Self-Respect Have to Do With Profit?
Are you serious about making money
on the Internet? Then treat your online business
LIKE a business. Just because no one knows who you
are is any reason to act like a loser. Hiding behind
Internet anonymity won't gain you any respect or
trust. If you're operating a pornography site, then
go ahead and hide. Most of us don't want to know you
anyway, but if you are serious about making some
very nice money in a fun, challenging and
professional environment, clean up your act. Pretend
your visitors can see you! Act as though they can.
Get a professional email address! How seriously are
your subscribers or your web visitors going to take
you when you email them with an address like
nosepicker@yahoo.com or
slut99@aol.com? I'm being polite here! Some of
the email addresses I've seen would curl your hair.
I suspect these people need psychiatric help.
To me an offensive or self-derogatory email address
reeks lack of professionalism and certainly lack of
self-respect.
Personally, I would rather do business with
patrick@dogbiscuitshop.com than
twit7734@aol.com! I can't really see myself
buying anything from
dirtydawg@yahoo.com, can you? I'd buy from
harold@dirtydawgcleaningsupplies.com
though. See the
difference?
Another reason for you to get a proper
ISP-based email address is that Yahoo, AOL
and zwallet email addresses often fail. Emails get
returned because your email box is full or there are
other problems with the free service provider. It is
rare to have mail returned from other ISP's. If you are
not hearing from someone, it may be because they can't
get through to you!
Many of my subscribers who are with Yahoo, AOL or
zwallet have never received my newsletter because month
after month their mailbox is full. Finally I delete them
from my subscriber list. Does losing a subscriber this
way bother me? Nope! Anyone who
doesn't even look after their email won't make a good
business person and therefore won't benefit from my
help. If they're not a good business person, they aren't
really interested in making money on the Internet and
they will likely never buy any of the products or
services I sell or recommend. If they do, they'll more
than likely never put what they buy to any use. Since
that is a lose-lose situation, it is better terminated
If your inbox is
constantly full, then stop signing up for every second
newsletter or offer on the Internet. Flailing around
crazily will only make you crazy. Focus in on what you
want to accomplish and sign up only for newsletters that
will help you succeed. Ignore the hype as much as
possible. That offer that expires at midnight
tonight...will likely still be there tomorrow! And if
it's not, a better one will have already come along
anyway.
If you're going to spend some money, spend it on buying
tools to automate your business and on advertising.
Show yourself some respect and ditch the stupid or
sleazy email address. Develop a professional image and
people will be more comfortable doing business with you.
Remember, one reason people don't buy from you is they
DON'T TRUST YOU! Well, heck, this isn't rocket science,
folks.
