Organizational Question

Postby tishialee on Fri Aug 17, 2007 11:58 pm

There is always advice/suggestions/opinions that I want to remember for future use but of course if I don't write it down, bookmark it, or print it out I won't remember.

So now the problem I have is that I have all these sites bookmarked but of course I don't remember why I bookmarked them in the first place. I also have a gazillion printed off pieces of paper with notes on them but it's a mess just having them laying around.

How do you keep track of / organize info you want to refer to later?

I send myself an email with the page link and then have a folder in my inbox for things to "look at later."

You can add notes to the email telling yourself why you were interested. And there's no paper to pile up or lose and you just delete the email when you're done with it. :)

oooooooooooooo linda! I thought I was the only one that did that. Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase - talking to myself. ;)

After I bookmark a page I go back and right-click the new bookmark. Choose properties and fill out the description box with why I use that link or what interested me about that page. Then I run a backup of my bookmarks every couple months and save that.

I've done that, too, Tishia. My desk is a mess, and so are my bookmarks. I have sent myself some emails, but don't do it often enough. That's a good idea, Linda and Kit.

I never thought about the email thing - I think I'll definitely be giving that a shot.

Mel I never knew there was a way to fill in a description for a bookmark. lol.
