How would I make money online by writing?

Postby CocoRose on Thu Jul 23, 2009 7:07 pm

I recently discovered a site called Google mechanical turk, and it's basically a site where you sign up and look through a list of tasks that people need to have done, like simple typing jobs or a survey, and they pay you a bit of money for it. Well I come across quite a few typing jobs (they don't pay much though...maybe 2.00 for a 250 word article if you go there on a good day). I recently got in contact with a guy who likes my writing style a lot and I've written several posts for his business blog in the past couple weeks. I've done creative writing as a hobby, but it seems I'm a pretty good technical writer as well. I also like to research and I'd like to think I'm very good at finding information when I need it.

So my question is, are there any set channels on the internet whereby you could make money by writing? Maybe go into business for yourself or become contracted under a business? Is there a name for what I'm talking about? I'm interested in learning more about this.

You should look up "ghostwriting" on Google and read through various resources that show up.

A couple other resources to look at:

both ehow.com (go all the way to the bottom of their home page) and hubpages.com offer payment for writing. I didn't look into it so I don't know how much but it might be worth a look. Anything is better than $2!

Just about ANY site is better than mechanical turk, but if you're REALLY bored you can wander there and make a few bucks. Some of the "employers" there REALLY ask for some professional and technical work for their $2.00. And that's a BIG fee, there. I used to do some picture comparisons there that paid like a DIME.

Textbroker is a writers' site where the work is already there, and you don't have to bid on it. There are other opportunities where the buyer posts jobs and you bid on them.

I've done freelance work, but now I work for a business called media cash machine. They specialize in teaching online business-people the most efficient ways to advertise your business. From TV to radio to internet sites, they give you lots of valuable information to attract new customers.

You can also visit some freelance sites, like getafreelancer.com and bid on article writing and rewriting jobs. The pay isn't always great, but there's usually a variety of writing jobs available.

Hi. Personally, I have had tremendous success with oDesk. I've been using them for about a year and at this point, I get just about all of my freelance writing jobs through that network. I've also been able to build some long term relationships and get steady work from repeat clients there as well. Feel free to PM me if I can help at all.

Best of luck to you!

There are 2 types of articles you can write to make money from. You can get paid from your articles directly when people read it. The other way is to write articles to sell a product or service, and earn the commission for each sale generated by your articles.
1) Write articles and get paid for access,
2) Write articles to sell product or service online.

Try eHow.com, Bukisa, Associated Content, Hubpages or Examiner.com

From my experience, I like eHow.com the best.

Hope that helps.

I've had success with odesk too. The only thing is they like to monitor you all the time, which isn't necessarily bad but considering that I'm working at home it kinda irks me. :? But other than that I've had success with the jobs I've done for them.

You can also get your writing done by using associated content. There are also a lot of opportunities like affiliate marketing and adsense publishing.
Article writers wanted. Home based. Reliable payment every Friday.
Lots of work.
