Hobby or Career?

Postby melodyt on Wed Mar 26, 2008 2:10 pm

I came across this question and thought it was a good one:

How many of you are doing your direct sales business to gain financial freedom (i.e. get out of debt, secure your financial future, etc) versus just as a hobby or for fun?

Now, think about it for a minute and be honest. Are you actually doing something to make it a career or are you just playing with it?

Can't wait to see the results!
Take care,

Just a quote i've heard, and I'm paraphrasing:

If you put in "hobby" effort, you'll get "hobby" results.

The answer is probably based on the results you want! I do not want "hobby" results. I am not FULL TIME (yet), I have a part time job and I have realistic goals set for the amount of time I can devote to my business.

I have other "hobbies". For me, this is a "job" I work set hours every day so I can acheive my goals! Not that it isn't "fun", but it IS real work! Somtimes the not fun stuff is hard to force yourself to buckle down and do. If I look at it as a "hobby" I am more likely to end up watching TV or something!

I have had a custom embroidery business for 10 years now. It is definitely a career. I just wish I had started sooner.
