New marketing techniques

Postby Mel on Wed Jul 02, 2008 1:02 pm

I've been so busy lately that I haven't had a chance to look at or apply any new marketing techniques for my business.

Have you come up with any new strategies or tried a new product to help you market your business? If you have, what was your experience? What kind of results are you getting from it?

I'm working on a site redesign at the moment but plan to kick-start my marketing efforts again once it's finished.

Mel,

I've been spending some time on Twitter. It's been fun and has allowed me to meet new people. Just another form of social networking. Follow me on Twitter. http://twitter.com/lisawillard

I've been using Twitter a lot the past few months too.

I joined the Shelancers directory, and that was instantly wonderful and put me in contact with some great ladies.

For my other websites I've been dabbling in some article marketing, which I've never done before.

It's not new, but I"ve been writing more articles. June was an awesome month with over a dozen new articles. July has not been quite as productive for writing but I do have some new articles.

Social networking

Postby elizabeth ashe on Fri Jul 25, 2008 11:21 pm

I have been using twitter alot and found it really enjoyable. It has brought me increased targeted traffic and even some sales.

I focus on article marketing some, but mainly I do a little guest blogging now and some small ad advertisement on similar sites.

But this summer for me has been all about setting up my affiliate center and increasing traffic.

Changed my blog theme design and continuing to move forward.

I also ditto the Twitter. :)

I have received more traffic and also clients from it. It has become my favorite way to socialize.

It can become addicting as Audrey mentions so I try to limit the time I spend on it. One way I have done this, which makes it easier for me is using Twirl, a desktop client for Twitter which can be downloaded from here:
http://www.twhirl.org/

Since it runs on my desktop I can close it when I want so I'm not distracted and it just works awesome. :)

We've started using a fairly new search engine under the premise that traffic is traffic and we don't really know who might be interested in our sites.

You can list all of your sites at no cost to you. It's sort of like Google Adwords, but it's free.

It's callled Respondoo Search Engine

How about social bookmarking sites?

Submit your blog article/ articles to these sites will help you to get traffic.

I'm waiting on my SEO course to arrive in the mail. Want to brush up on my skills and learn new ones in this area. Not only for my own websites but for my clients.

Twitter has proven to be a great asset... But it's no harm to try other social networking sites since there are lots of 'em :)
