Table code issues

Postby Mommy_traffic on Sun Sep 21, 2008 10:17 am

Hello ladies/gents
hope everyone is well on a sunday morning,
regarding a website I'm working on
I notice, that the tables have this little grayish box at the end
on some tables, would you mind giving me some tips on how to fix that
or even so, if you have a better idea for a table code, would be greatly appreciated!
you can see what I am trying to accomplish, when you view the page,
it's in the "shop" section of the website in my signature line, didn't know if
i could post the link in the post, so i placed it in my signature line for view.

once again it's in the Shop Section of the website.
Thanks so much any help would be greatly appreciated!
and in your opinion do you think, I'm making a fuss about
nothing? should i just leave it? what do you think?

I'm not super good at HTML but from looking at your site code, it looks like you have an extra image (<img>) string on the end of the ones that have the extra little gray box.

For example, the links looks something like this (where you see * it should be either a > or a < but I had to change it so the code didn't convert):
*td* *a href="YOUR LINK CODE"**img title="" alt= "YOUR ALT TEXT" src= "THE IMAGE URL" border= "0" /**/a* *img width= "1" height="1" alt="" title="" src="YOUR LINK CODE" border="0" /**/td**/tr*

I think you just need to remove the red part (the 2nd set of img string).

BUT... copy it to notepad or something before you remove it just in case that doesn't work and you need to put it back.

Those little 1x1 images might be part of the tracking code for the affiliate links so it may or may not be okay to just remove them. It's not the images alone that are causing the gray boxes, but probably the images in combination with one of the css styles for the table. When I take code for the table and preview it in a page without your styles, the gray boxes aren't there.

You might want to try two steps first.

1 - Double check the affiliate links for the buttons to see whether or not the 1x1 images are part of the tracking. If they are part of the tracking....

2 - Take the table code and place it on a blank page on your site (no template, no styles, etc). If the gray boxes aren't there, you can then try to identify what style is causing the boxes. I don't know the easiest way to approach that, but I would probably try adding things one at a time to see when it occurs and then troubleshoot from there. For example, add the style sheets one at a time, then the div styles, then the page template, etc.

Maybe someone with more design experience than I can identify the problem more readily. Let's hope!
