Getting ready to launch my first book

Postby heymannyc on Tue Sep 30, 2008 9:50 pm

Any advice on how to proceed? A list of things to do from an experienced vet? I am expecting a good deal of media interest as I have already had a few bites. How should I best maximize this exposure? Interested to hear your feedback.

It may be helpful to have a "free" list in order to get more PPL into your funnel so you have a way of keeping in touch if they aren't ready to sign up the first time they visit. People are fickle and forgetful so they may not remember you after visiting.

Continue to leverage the publicity coverage you've had so far by tapping into other media outlets with your story.

If you have testimonials/stories from people who have been using your service and have a story to tell, featuring those will likely help increase your conversions.

Hope this helps :-)

Duh! I just assumed that it would have something to do with the nanny plates site and didn't really get that this was about a book...is it related to the nanny site?

Jill,

Congratulations on your book. I have never written a book yet.

Our book has been out for nearly a year now and it's been far more work promoting it than it was writing it. However, those quarterly royalty checks certainly are nice.

If you have a blog and sell on Amazon, you can feed your blog to your Amazon sales page. The best part of this is that it allows prospective purchasers to see that you are actively contributing more information, especially when your blog articles refer to different sections of your book.

Find groups on social sites that fit your book. Join all of them and become a regular contributor...but let your profile sell your book, not your group postings.

Make a Squidoo lens or 20 about your book. Basically, you market the book just like you would a website.
