Does Your eBay Title Look Like This…..?

@@@@!!! MUST C !!@@@ CUTE DRESS!!@@@@@

If you have browsed around on eBay at all… I’m sure you have seen titles that look something like the one above (I guess I did exaggerate a bit LOL )… Although all the ‘@’ and ‘!’ and CAPS may get the attention of browsers, I’m sorry to say that it isn’t likely to bring in those that are actually looking to bid on the item.

As a seller – your title is the KEY for potential bidders to find your listing. When a bidder goes to eBay for an item, they usually type in the search box a description of what they are looking for. The search results are all the listings that have the words typed in included in the title of the auction. If you are missing these ‘KEY’ words in your title… your listing won’t come up. The best way to determine what your title should look like, is to put yourself in the shoes of your buyers. If you were shopping for an item like what you are selling, what KEY words would you type in to find it? Take note – and include them in your title.

Here are a few tips to consider when writing your title:

  • Is the item new? new with tags (NWT)?
  • Is the brand significant (if it is a name brand – include it)?
  • Is there a line name (ie., Gymboree is known for the lines of clothing – each has its own name and many Gymbo fans like to collect entire lines so they search by line name)?
  • Does you item have a specific size?  (clothing sizes, shoe sizes, etc.)
  • Don’t forget to include what your item actually is (dress, top, capri, jean)
  • To make more space in your title, you can leave the ’s’ off plural words – the results are the same on eBay. For example, if you have a lot of 3 pairs of jeans, you can just use the word ‘jean’ not ‘jeans’ if you need the character space.

Enjoy… :)
