Sick Embarrasing Moments
December 11, 2007
My poor 4 year old is sick. He’s been home from school for the past two days with fever, tummy upset, cough and just generally unwell.
I took him to pick up my older two at school and we went into the school hall for this art exhibition where the children display their paintings and parents can view/buy them.
Anyways, it was extremely crowded, hot and stuffy and just as I was about to say come on we’ll come back tomorrow lets get out of here my 4 year old threw up right in the middle of it all.
Ah, spectacular timing… of course they can’t help these things, but the timing and place was pretty bad! He did feel much better afterwards so there’s one positive thing.
Plus tomorrow he has his Christmas nativity play and I doubt he’ll be able to take part. Looks like the teachers will have to find another angel Gabriel!
So how’s your week going so far? Is anyone else thinking that there are just way too many demands put on us at this time of year? I’m one for minimizing all demands but some things you can’t escape!

Oh Mila!
I’m so sorry for you and your little one. The holidays are so crazy. I’m surprised we don’t all just throw up from the stress, lack of sleep, and the indulgence…We’re in the midst of several days of really heavy snow, some areas have received more than 6 feet! My husband borrowed my car today to get to work because it is 4 wheel drive and his little sports car doesn’t handle too well on icy roads. Of course my daughter got sick at school. I had to walk to pick her up and walk home. Not too bad but we live about 2 miles from the school so it was a long walk home for her. AND she has a band concert tonight. UGH! No wonder we all celebrate Jan 1st. It means the holidays have been survived! Hope your 4 year old feels better soon!
Sorry to hear about your little one. It’s so hard when they’re sick. I don’t know about your house, but it always seems in mine someone is always sick this time of year.
Hopefully your little one will feel better soon and no one else in your house gets it.
Hope your little one feels better soon. Two of mine were home sick today. I hear you on the so much to do this time of year. Monday night was one Christmas concert. This afternoon was a board meeting (the other school canceled this month yippee!!) tomorrow night is parent teacher interviews and there are two school concerts next week. Oh yes, and I have to take two platters in (one to each school) for teacher appreciation week next week. I’m kind of glad we aren’t involved with a church at the moment or I’d be sunk this month!
Aww… the poor thing! At least at a school event pretty much all the attendees have “been there, done that” and understand.
With so many kids sick now it makes me think they are all suffering from the stress too… we’re all more prone to illness when we’re under stress.
Interesting about the stress thing… it could very well be, they have much more to do than usual at this time and everyone’s rushing around.
It really wasn’t too embarrassing cause the hall was so busy that only the people around us noticed and I ducked out once the janitor got there!
Annette, things like that always seem to happen when you least need them to.
I honestly said I wasn’t going to get stressed this year but we just have so much going on that it can’t be helped. It’s the build up to the 24th/25th really once that’s over and the kids are home things are relaxing again.
Oh and he did take part in the nativity but I took him home right after
Mila, my youngest has done that. Unfortunately, whenever he’s done that, he’s been at church. The first time in the bookstore. Then a couple of months later, right in front of the sanctuary doors. Later in the morning, all over a chair. It was not pleasant.
I’m glad your son was able to play the angel in the nativity. Even if he couldn’t stay, I’m sure he’ll remember his “angelic” performance.
My youngest did that at a funeral and when she did it i took her the the bathroom and she said she was okay now so we weent back out and she did it again! In total she threw up 7 times in 10 minutes so we took her to the hospital
