Tips on Choosing a Direct Sales Company - Direct Selling Jewelry
|
|
Direct sales is a driving force in the economy today. One area of
direct sales is jewelry sales.
According to the 2004 Direct Selling Growth and Outlook Survey (made
available by Direct Selling Association in Washington, DC), 2003 U.S.
Retail Sales reached $29.55 Billion.
Of that $29.55, 29.4% was made up
of personal care items, including jewelry. 61.9% of these sales were
made face-to-face in someone’s home by an individual, while 28.5% were
made through party plans.

Lia Sophia, a
fashion jewelry company and member of Direct Selling Association, has
been in business for thirty years. It is currently being run by the
second generation of the Kiam Family.
Jewels by Park
Lane, founded in 1955 by Arthur and Shirley LeVin, sells fashion
jewelry with an unconditional guarantee. The company offers its
consultants bonus and incentive programs including trips and jewerly.
Azante Jewelry,
founded by Cheri Larson, sells fine hand-crafted and hand selected
pieces. Cheri Larson started making jewelry on her dining room table.
Since that time her company has become one of the premier direct sales
jewelry companies in the U.S.
These are just three of the many direct sales jewelry businesses
available.
What makes this business different from other home-based businesses?
The advantages to selling jewelry from home are as numerous as the
people who choose to do so. Some typical benefits of having a small
home business are: setting your own work hours, unlimited income
potential, having no boss and doing what you love.
Cheri Larson of Azante Jewelry stresses to potential consultants
(salespeople) that one of the advantages of selling jewelry is that
there is no need for a stiff, well-rehearsed presentation. Jewelry
tends to sell itself.
There is no need to explain what jewelry is or why an individual needs
it. In direct sales, the people can see it, feel it and even try it
on. People really sell the items to themselves as they put the rings
on their own fingers and fantasize about owning them.
The parties or trunk shows are a fun way to display jewelry. They
offer a nice evening out with friends in a relaxed setting. The
hostess receives nice gifts without a lot of effort. The consultant
or salesperson gets a commission on the sales and the company goes
up in value. Everybody wins.
Another advantage to direct selling is the lack of overhead. There is
no store to rent. There is no set payroll. This enables the seller
to offer the jewelry at a lower price while maintaining high
quality. Of course a lower price makes for an easier sell. Again,
everybody wins.
Also, there is no waiting for the customer to come to you. With direct
selling, the jewelry goes to the customer.
Parties or shows can take place in homes, offices, schools (as
fund-raisers) or one can order directly from an independent consultant
or salesperson.
There are as many ways to succeed in selling jewelry through a
home-based business as there are people who are willing to give it a
try.
