"It makes my business fun," Ellie exclaims, "If I
didn't have have this passion, I would struggle to work on my business full
time. I greatly enjoy doing what I do, so working is not really working. I think
that passion comes through when I talk to people, in my website and in my
creations".
Ellie's online presence came to be in 2000 and
she designed her current website,
http://www.onthelakecreations.com, just
this year. 95% of Ellie's business is run online and she actively promotes her
website through evaluating the competition ranking high on the search engines
and exchanging links with other like businesses. She always carries her business
cards with her URL and a tote bag that also sports her URL (designed by Ellie,
of course). People notice her bag and ask, "What is One the Lake Creations?" and
Ellie can passionately tell them about her business.
Ellie's advice for a successful home based
business is to keep organized and set daily and monthly goals. When you make
organizational mistakes, correct them and be sure to learn from them. Goals can
be financial or task-oriented, just make sure you have set out some goals for
yourself.
She encourages anyone who has the dream of
running a home based business full time. Remember to have patience and
determination, the rewards of creating your own future are worth it. To remind
herself of this, Ellie keeps the following quote on her monitor, "Dream your
dreams until they all come true - it's the most important thing you'll ever do!"
Ellie gets a lot
of people asking why her business called, "On the Lake Creations"? She lives on
a small lake in northern Minnesota and the name seemed to be fitting. Owning a
business has been a life-time dream of hers but now she can say it's a
reality. Visit her online at
