What Is an Illegal Matrix?

An illegal matrix is just that...illegal. It is a variation on the gifting program, where you put in X amount of dollars and your money comes from others recruited down the line. They are illegal in most states, and may violate federal laws as well, because you are not providing anything tangible for the person's investment.

For example, let's say you are invited to join a Ladder Club. You must buy a spot on the lower rung of five ladders that have a total of five rungs. That will cost you $50 for each ladder. The money paid for each ladder is distributed like this: $5 will go to each person on rungs two through five. The person at the top of the ladder gets $15, as does the Ladder manufacturer (the person who started the scheme).

When you recruit people, you are selling them a "ladder", with your name on the bottom rung. You will earn $5 from each of these people. As the levels grow, you will move up the rungs, and eventually be at the top of your five ladders, and collecting money as long as those below you, continue to recruit others.

But as in all pyramid style schemes, they usually collapse when someone tips off the police, or the new recruits become wise to your game.
