Start a Bath Products Business
|
|
What better business could there be than to start a business
that allows people to pamper themselves? Bath products are in
high demand and you can sell them online or locally.
Think of different scents you could offer your customers or
specialize in one particular scent or type of product. Think of
ways to encourage repeat customers - if they regularly consume
your product, they'll come back for more.

Bath Products business
What you will be doing. Bath products are popular
right now. The variety of fragrances in soaps, scrubs, bath
bubbles, and gels keep this business moving. There are also
traditional fragrances that lots of people like. Selling to
friends, family members, and Internet customers make this
business a money maker.
Not only are their lotions and soaps, there are loofahs,
robes, slippers, and back scrubbers. These products are as
plentiful as the perfumed soaps. A bath products business
can encompass just the fragrant products or the accessory
bath as well. There is a high demand for both.
How to start. Do a little market research first. What
does everyone like to wear? Do their fragrances change from
summer to fall and fall to winter? What are the fragrances
that never go out of style?
Asking a few questions in person or posting a poll on your
website can yield some money making answers. This is where
to start when stocking your products. You want to supply the
public with what they need.
Check out bath product stores and see what the hottest
selling products are. You can sell your wares at a
discounted price because there will be relatively no
overhead for a home business. You can store your inventory
in the garage or a home office.
When you know what products you need, look for suppliers.
Wholesalers can give you a good price on bulk shipments.
Stores that are having clearance sales are places to stock
up on popular name brand bath products without spending a
lot of money.

Start up costs. Start up could be as low as $200-$300
depending on how well you shop for your inventory.
Boxes and
packing materials are needed to ship products to their
destination once ordered. To ensure proper handling of your
packages, don’t overload them.
Keep a scale (a bathroom
scale will do) to weigh boxes. For multiple items, ten pound
boxes are big enough. |
Skills needed. Retailers of perfumes and other
fragrant products should be “people” persons. When you are
selling to the public, know how to push your product without
being perceived as pushy. A business person who is warm and
open will attract more people than someone who look like
they don’t want to be bothered.
Marketing. Flea markets are the premier place besides
a store to advertise and sell locally. You pay a fee to rent
a booth for the day and, if you are lucky, you may go home
with more money in your pocket than products in your car. A
good marketing tool is the sample. Set aside a few small
bottles of bath gels or bath lotions for customers to sample
to see how the fragrance mixes with their skin. Most people
are reluctant to buy a product they can’t try.
Take a few pictures of your bath products and showcase them
on a website. List all the details of the products and how
many you have in stock. This encourages those who want to
place big orders when they see you carry many items. Keeping
a running count of inventory will keep you from scrounging
around to fill orders if you advertise something you no
longer have.
Bath products will always be in demand. Knowing the market
trends will keep your business in the forefront when it
comes to offering customers the most current items at low
prices.
