Creating a Boss’s Day Gift Basket

At our job we all have someone to answer to. Hopefully everyone has a boss who shows understanding, fairness, and encouragement. If this sounds like you, maybe this boss’s day you and the gang can get together and create a boss’s day gift basket.

Boss’s Day is October 16th. Plan well in advance so everyone has time to contribute something to the basket. If your boss has plenty of people working for them, choose a large gift basket so all of the items will fit.

It is hard to know what to get for a boss. Office etiquette may dictate that the gift be something politically correct. For real people, politically correct can be downright stiff at times. Employees who know their boss well and have a great relationship; it is okay to get a gift that is more personal. Just present it to them in their office or leave it on their desk with a card from all of you.

Does your boss have any quirks? Most people whether a boss or not have certain mannerisms that they display all the time. Maybe it’s a running joke around the office. A gift basket for boss’s day is the time to play up those quirks.

Decorate the basket with sample documents, to do lists, stamps that say things like “urgent,” “late,” or “overdue.” Inside include items that will help a frazzled overworked boss to relax. One necessary addition is a pair of slippers. Choose fuzzy pink ones for female, stately ones for a male. You may even want to add a smoking jacket as a gag gift for your male boss.

When they are alone, they can enjoy your relaxing gifts and be reminded of what kind of people work for them. But, all gifts don’t have to relate to the office. Include a dinner gift card so they can take their spouse and/or family out for a meal. If they are into golf, buy a round at a nearby course.

Boss’s Day is about appreciating the one who watches over you. At times, we don’t get along with our bosses but then again, we have times we don’t get along with coworkers. At the end of the day, if you can say that you respect them and their position, show your appreciation with a gift basket.
