Coaching Themed Gift Baskets

When you play sports the real leader of the team is the coach.  He or she pushes the players to give their best.  For the coach who inspired you, give them a gift basket to show you care.

Coaches spend a lot of time yelling, throwing their clipboard, and blowing whistles.  They are probably due for a few replacement parts.  Give them a few extra whistle and clipboards to spare in case they break one or two.

It seems corny but a trophy given to a coach by his or her team might drive them to tears.  Go all out.  Choose a trophy with the appropriate figure on the top.  Have the plate engraved to say, “World’s Best Coach” or some sentiment to that effect.  If it comes from the heart, it will be one of their most treasured possessions.

The gift basket can include items for the coach to use as a coach or in his or her free time.  Unfortunately, many coaches are still thought of as “Coach” even when they are just ordinary people.  In that case, let them be a stylish coach.  Outfit them with personalized hats, jerseys, jackets, and other accessories in the team colors.

Was your coach ever a player in high school or college?  See if you can get a hold of some of their old pictures or sports clips use them to create a collage of their sporting life.  Won’t they be surprised when they see what they used to look like when they were in your position?

In contrast to that collage, create a scrapbook or similar collage of their life now as your coach.  Include newspaper clippings, photographs, funny quotes, and written testimonials from team members. 

How will you present your gifts to that special coach?  A coach may not have a use for a regular gift basket.  They look nice but it would be a shame for the basket to wind up in a corner after the gifts are removed.  Use a sports duffel bag, golf bag, or even a large Gatorade cooler and stuff it full of gifts.

Coaches are special people.  They can be hard and make us mad at times but it is for our benefit that they care so much.  Show your appreciation through a gift basket.
