Become an Internet Computer Training Consultant
What you will be doing.
Even in our technology driven society there are people that
are computer illiterate. Some are afraid of technology.
Others need it for their job but are in need of serious help
to understand computer systems and software.
As an Internet computer trainer, you can help these people
achieve their goals and overcome their fear of technology.
Working on the Internet allows clients to learn from the
comfort of their own home. Interactive computer classes,
software instruction guides, and helpful hints are all ways
to teach people everywhere to love their computer.
How to start.
Some computer trainers may niche into a specific area of
computer training. You may have experience working with
different operating systems. You can teach computer systems
courses. If you are great at software, this could be your
niche.
Develop a business plan. The business plan will help you
direct your computer training business. If you are
considering outside financing, check with a business
planning consultant to get help with a formal business plan
that is ready for a loan officer.
Starting costs.
With the cost of a computer system, computer software,
printer, copier, fax machine, and telephone, the cost could
reach $6,000 to start. You will need copies of all the
software you plan to use for training. You will develop
your own training manuals that will be part of the class or
can be sold separately in a bound form.
Skills needed.
Formal education in computer science is a plus but not
necessary. You can seek certification in different software
applications as part of a credible business background.
Computer skills, writing skills, and presentation skills are
necessary to teach online courses in a way that is
understandable to everyone.
Marketing. Advertise in trade journals, computer magazines, and on
your website. Join online computer forums and mention your
new business venture and the website address. Send out
mailings to local businesses that may need training for
their employees on the newest systems. The way to stay
ahead is to learn new software as it hits the market.
Your website needs a forum and a blackboard. The blackboard
is an area where members of your classes can ask questions
and post assignments if you give any for the class. Once
the classes become successful, you can market the manuals
that you developed. Sell actual copies of the manual on
eBay and your website to companies and individuals that need
to brush up on their skills.
Computer trainers will be needed as long as there is new
technology being developed. Online training gives people
the option of working from the comfort of their homes
without the hassle of driving to a campus class.
