When trying to entertain new clients, it is not inappropriate to thank them for their time spent with you. A corporate gift basket is both professional and can be tailored to the tastes of the receiving person. Here are some ideas about creating your own basket.

For one reason, corporate gift baskets can get expensive. The company is paying for it, but they should get their money’s worth. For small businesses and home businesses, these expensive gift baskets may not be in the budget.

Creating one is less expensive and filled with items you would choose for your new or prospective client. After all, you know them better than the company selling the premade corporate gift basket.

A moderate sized basket is okay for corporate gifts. One thing that will make it into the basket is a few of your items. Maybe you’ve purchased mugs, keychains, and other items with your company’s logo on it. They can distribute these items to their employees when they get back.

For the client, take a minute to think about them. What do they like? Where are they from? For a foreign client, the gift basket can contain some items that remind them of home. Authentic desserts or candies from their home country are good choices.

Coffees and teas are a safe bet as well. Most corporate professionals drink one or the other on a daily basis. Include decaffeinated coffee and tea as an option.

For clients who you’ve met over the Internet, they are already in their home surroundings so there’s no need to send them a basket full of home gifts. Instead, send them gifts that are souvenirs from your area. Even if they are within a different region of the same country, foods and gifts unique to your area are thoughtful.

Don’t forget the thank you note. A handwritten card that expresses your gratitude will be appreciated. Corporate gifts let clients know how much you value their business.

Corporate gifts don’t have to be fancy, just thoughtful. You want to say thanks not bribe them into doing business with you. Keep it simple and they will like it.
