Father's Day
Father’s Day Gift Baskets
Everyone remembers that May is for Mother’s Day. What about dads?
During the month of June, make your father happy with a gift basket
made especially for him by you. Here are some ideas for creating a
Father’s Day gift basket for the special man in your life.
Men are a different breed entirely. Where we women go in for
decorating and things that look pretty, men are more no nonsense.
This is important to remember when creating something for them. The
frills will be lost on them.
So, let’s avoid all of that and go for function and practicality
mixed with a lot of humor. First of all, what does your dad like?
What are his hobbies?
Here’s an example. My dad likes professional sports, in particular,
the Philadelphia Eagles. If your dad is also a sports buff, give him
a basket that any fan of that sports team would envy. Include
banners, game day snacks, jerseys, drinking glasses, and other items
with sports logos on them. Since they will not likely use the basket
after they pull the stuff out of it, use a sports logo trashcan,
backpack, helmet, or even one of those giant hands as the “basket.”
Maybe dad likes to fish or fix cars or he is a gadget geek. Use
these themes as well to make the Father’s Day gift basket special.
This year, give him a new tackle box that is filled with great gifts
on the inside: new lures, supplies to fix lures and lines, extra
fishing line, and whatever else you come up with.
Techie fathers always want the latest in telephones, fax, and cell
phones. If you can’t afford one of these, fill his gift basket with
the accessories for those items. With new technology popping up
everywhere, there will be no shortage of items to put in your
basket.
For younger children, your basket for dad can be the biggest hit of
all. Simple drawings, pictures of dad with the kids, a homemade
card, a good funny movie, and a box of popcorn equals a relaxing day
at home with your father. He will appreciate the sentiment and the
amount of work you put into it.
This father’s day, show him how you feel about him. Whether it is
books, sporting goods, or food, the idea is to fill the basket with
your father’s favorite things.
