Creating a Floral Gift Basket

We receive flowers for all sorts of reasons. Flower sales rise during Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. Deaths, births, illness, and family gatherings bring out throngs of flowers in vibrant colors. But, there are some people who love having their own flowers. For them, this type of gift basket is a thing of beauty.

Everyone doesn’t have a green thumb. Give them a plant and a week later it will be dead. Tending and growing another living thing is a gift. Flower baskets encourage the use of this gift. How can you tell these people? They have immaculate gardens filled with beautiful blooms and their homes may be filled with fragrant blooms as well.

You can get them a bouquet of flowers but how about a larger variety of flowers instead? A flower gift basket contains seed packets for wildflower gardens, seasonal flowers, and also bulbs. Flower bulbs can withstand a lot. Have a couple of bulb bags with their favorite flower type inside the basket, too.

Flowers also need pots. Choose pots that will express this person’s individual tastes. It could be a large terra cotta pot of the outside garden or a series of smaller pots for the inside or the window sill. If their window can support a flower box, use that as your gift basket and fill it with flower growing supplies and a blooming plant.

Flowers grow from the ground and also on other plants. Some cacti varieties are blooming with flowers. Give them a surprise with a cactus flower garden. You can complete the garden yourself or just the pieces: small cacti, some soil, and stones. Cacti are used to dry arid climates with very little water so they are perfect for someone whose thumb is not completely green. They’ll have a hard time killing it.

Books on flower arranging and care can pepper the basket along with your seeds and bulbs. Include some artificial flowers to decorate the basket. The silk flowers can be placed in a vase for display somewhere in the home.

Flowers smell wonderful and bring a bit of sunshine into our lives. Someone who loves them that much would appreciate a gift basket full of them.
