Food Themed Gift Baskets
A popular type of gift basket is the food gift basket. Everyone
loves to eat delicious food. If there is an occasion that warrants
it, offer a food gift basket to someone you know.
Food gift baskets are given for different
reasons. Someone could be moving into the neighborhood. Maybe a
friend is recovering from an illness and needs to take it easy.
Food gift baskets can also be a peace offering in the event of a
misunderstanding.
Whatever your reason, use a few rules of thumb
when creating a food gift basket. Stick to pre-packaged foods.
Fresh food can be tricky. Cooking a chicken or a dinner and putting
it in the basket begs the question of food safety. Cooked foods
need refrigeration after an hour or two at room temperature.
Avoid any problems by buying foods that can be
put together later. Food items that don’t require refrigeration are
perfect for a food basket. Canned goods, microwave meals, and cakes
or cookies can survive in a gift basket without spoiling. Vacuum
sealed packages of seasoned tuna and chicken go well in food
baskets.
Create a theme for your gift basket. The theme
will determine how you decorate the basket and what types of food go
inside. A food basket for college students might contain dried
noodles, beans, soups, and snacks for a rainy day.
The theme can be a meal for two. In this case,
the person will probably be eating the food soon. You can include
foods needing refrigeration if the gift basket is small enough to
fit into the refrigerator. They will still get a surprise upon
opening the fridge and seeing a basket full of good things to eat.
Choose a basket material that will stand up to the cold temperature
of the refrigerator without getting ruined.
Leave a little room in a food basket for other
things in addition to the food. Cookbooks, utensils, cooking
timers, napkins, and other goodies complement whatever food
offerings you have included in the basket,
Know someone who will benefit from a food
basket? Pack a variety of good eats into the basket and present it
to them for immediate consumption or to eat at their leisure.
