Football Player Themed Gift Baskets

When fall rolls around, football fans don their jerseys and get ready for the season.   Prepare the football player in your life with a gift basket full of goodies.   Here are some ideas to get you started.

Football players love to snack.   It is their fuel to make it through the first half of the game until halftime.   Anyone who has ever watched a football game knows that it can drag on forever. 

Since the basket recipient may share their booty with fellow football fans, fill the basket with individually packaged snacks like chips, beef jerky, cheese, summer sausage, and popcorn.  Include a cheese knife, cutting board, and plasticware so they don’t have to call for someone to bring them utensils in the middle of the game.  The object here is to make them self-sufficient.

Most football fans have their favorite teams but love football in general.  Books on football stats and football history will keep the guys (and girls) busy at halftime.  Mix in a trivia book or two to test the knowledge of those football fans.

How will you package these great gifts? You can go the traditional route and use a wicker basket.  Personalize it with team pennants, mascot pictures, and streamers in their favorite team colors.  Sports companies come up with all sorts of neat gadgets for the sports fan.  Take a giant football helmet and fill let it double as a gift basket.  After the goodies are gone, the helmet can go on display for the season.

Do you have room for more?  Consider outfitting your football player with some new gear.  That old jersey they have been wearing for the past five years is getting worn.  Spring for a new jersey, a hat, a team blanket, and other paraphernalia to make him or her feel right at home. 

If that sports fan is watching the games on local television, step them up to the next level with a subscription to the NFL channels on cable or satellite television.   This is a really nice thing for a football fan so be sure they are worth it.
