Handyman Themed Gift Baskets

Does your significant other fancy themselves a fix-it guy? Maybe they are handy around the house and maybe they are not.  To boost his confidence give him a handyman gift basket.

Use the basket to keep him outfitted with the right gear for household jobs.  Some guys will use anything to jury rig a leaky faucet or put something back together.  Keep simple repairs from becoming major projects with the right tools to begin with.

First, you want him to look good.  All serious handymen have a belt to hold their tools.  Find one that will fit his waist.  Have it personalized with his name for an extra special touch. 

Now, for the tools needed for the belt.  Any handyman needs basic items.  If you aren’t sure what those are, go to a hardware store and ask a salesperson to help you.  Be careful not to get duped into buying hundreds of dollars worth of tools. 

Many men have tools already to fix their cars but they are not necessarily the same ones that will fix a leaky faucet or the handle on the bathroom toilet.  Consider things like wrenches, a flashlight, flat head and Philips head screwdrivers, a hammer, and pliers.  With these tools you can fix things around the house if he happens to be out at the time.

Everything won’t fit into his utility belt.  Find a permanent place for his tools to be stored.  Instead of a traditional basket, use a carrying case like a tackle box or a metal case designed for tools.  Now, he will have all of his tools available to choose from for every job.

For the man who tries hard to be handy but doesn’t quite succeed there are more gifts to include in a handyman gift basket.  One is a guide to simple repairs.  DIY advice on everything from defrosting the refrigerator to putting up drywall can be found in books and magazines at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and the bookstore.  Help him out with his projects.

Handy spouses and boyfriends like to be useful.  They’d rather give it a go than call the plumber.  Just in case, though, put a little list of emergency professional handyman numbers in the basket as well.
