Italian Themed Gift Basket

What do we think of when we hear the word, “Italian”? I think of lots of good filling foods, good drink, and love at sunset. The Italian life is seen as very romantic and robust. For the person who loves all things Italian, give them a taste of the old country with an Italian-themed gift basket.

There are so many things to love about Italy. It is the center of great art masterpieces, gondolas, and romance. If you are creative, you can fit all of this in a gift basket. It’s possible. First, you must decide what type of Italian basket you want to create.

Italians love their food. Eating is an experience that should be enjoyed and shared. For the Italian gift basket, food is an excellent theme. For food, line the bottom of the basket with a clothe napkin for any food that is not wrapped up. A complete meal has pasta, bread, and sauce at its base.

A variation on a theme would be to choose a particular area of Italy and fill the basket with foods native to that area. You may end up with a basket full of olives, grapes, herbs, oils, bread, and cheeses. A cookbook and tourist book of the region adds to the theme. Grapes may go bad, so buy artificial ones and use them to decorate the basket.

How about snacks? Bread with oil and herbs is a great way to start off dinner. A gift basket can be devoted to that. Choose oil bowls and a pouring bottle for the oil along with dried herbs and bread. To create atmosphere, add a table centerpiece, some candle sticks and candles.

The basket can be a large stock pot filled with assorted pastas, sauces, and side dishes. Add a checkered tablecloth and a CD of love ballads to round out your gift offering. Ooh la la! It’ll be a hit with the lucky person who receives it.

Maybe they can’t go to Italy but they can feel like they are there with the items from your gift basket. Think of other things to add that will exemplify the Italian way of life.
