Jobs in Medical Transcription: Questions & Answers
Here is another question and answer to starting out as a
medical transcriptionists.
Is it Difficult to Get
Started in Medical Transcription?
No, not when you compare it to other types of businesses, a
medical transcription business is actually quite easy to start.
You need to register your business (this can be easily done at
City Hall or online), a business checking account (really easy
once you register your business) and a good accountant to help
you keep track of your taxes and records.
You don't really need any special license other than a general
business license and the start up costs are minimal since
you're working from home.
Once you have all the technical sides of your business set up
you'll want to find a few medical transcription jobs. we've
found the best way to do this is by sending out an account
seeking sales letter to your local hospitals, clinics and
doctors offices.
Follow up a few days later with a telephone call. This approach
has worked really well for myself and other MTs and it's a
great way of getting accounts. Once you get the first one or
two accounts, it should be easy from there as most of your
future clients should come from word of mouth.
If you provide a reliable, neat and affordable service word
about your business will soon get around.
