Creating a New Dad Gift Basket

There is a new baby on the way and the family can’t wait to meet them. As concern is shared for mom’s safety and comfort, don’t forget that baby will have two new parents. The new dad needs love and attention as well. He is a part of a dynamic duo that will be caring for the new baby.

A new dad gift basket will shock everyone just because people forget the dad. It is not to be cruel or unfeeling. Since mom carries the baby she garners most of the concern. But this gift basket will let dad know how important he really is.

New dads have to prepare for fatherhood. They won’t need special chairs to sit in or creams to rub on their growing belly, but they can experience some pregnancy symptoms. It sounds funny but new dads are just as nervous and green around the gills as new moms.

That new dad may want to pass out some keepsakes to his friends. Include a dozen or so of cigars that say congratulations. If he doesn’t smoke, chose gum cigars. These are a bit cheesy, but dad may want to pass out some cute buttons or lapel pins that broadcast baby’s impending arrival.

Dad could have trouble sleeping because he is feeling some of the same aches and pains as mom. He won’t need to support a pregnant belly so give him a body pillow that he can hug while sleeping.

Since babies don’t come with instructions, getting a book that provides advice for new dads is the next best thing. Men like to know exactly what to do. This type of book written for me will get him thinking in the right direction. He’ll feel more optimistic and less tense about raising his new son or daughter.

Dads don’t require decorations for their gift baskets. It’ll probably end up in baby’s room filled with his toys or clothing. Besides, dad will only be concerned with the contents. Include some survival gear: a baby carrier, a macho diaper bag, and a burping cloth.

Dads need love too. Handling a new baby is partly their responsibility. Help them to be prepared.
