Patriotism is the love of and loyalty to one’s country. Patriotism can be shown in many ways. Demonstrate your patriotic spirit with gift baskets for those you love.

The ultimate act of patriotism to me is to defend one’s country. Several troops are doing that right now in various parts of the world. They are away from their families to keep our families safe. Support for them can come in the form of a gift basket with a patriotic theme.

There are organizations that deliver gifts to troops overseas. They may have specifications for packaging so your gift basket may actually be a box in this case. But, it is the thought that counts. Decorate that box to show you care and fill it with love.

We normally think about colors of the flag of our country as a decoration. For troops away from home, decorate with pictures of their native land. You may not know where exactly they hail from in your country, but pictures of cities and town all across the country will remind them of home.

A patriotic gift basket can be supplied with sweet treats like cookies and brownies. Include CDs of popular music, movies, calling cards, soft pillows, and other items they can only get at home. These gifts can be delivered to VA hospitals and veterans in your church and community. Let them know that their efforts were not in vain but greatly appreciated.

Cameras are a good gift to include in a patriotic gift basket. For deployed troops, they can snap pictures to send home to their families. A small photo album lets them display those pictures.

Independence Day is another occasion to send out patriotic gift baskets to those you know. Add a splash of red, white, and blue to a basket. What do most people do on the Fourth of July? You guessed it—they cook out. Decorate a big metal tub with patriotic stars and stripes and fill it with good things for a backyard barbeque. When the tub is emptied, fill with ice and use it to chill the drinks at the barbeque party.
