Retirement Themed Gift Baskets

A lifetime devoted to work deserves a bit of recognition when it is over.  It is just a small way to say thank you and that they will be missed around the water cooler.  When someone you know decides to retire, give them a retirement gift basket.

Retirement means different things to different people.  For some, they can get on with the long list of things they wanted to do before but never got the chance to do because of work obligations.  For others, it can be a bit scary to have so much time on their hands without anything specific to do. 

A retirement basket can contain many things.  If you know something specific that the person wants to do, use that to create a theme for the retirement basket.  Their idea of a happy retirement could be playing nine holes of golf.  In that case, find a miniature golf bag and fill it with some neat stuff to enhance their game. 

The first thing a retiree may want to do is relax.  That sounds funny but after thirty or more years of work, not having to get up early in the morning is a cause to sit back and do nothing.  Help them along with a few lazy accessories. 

For starters if the retiree is a man, he’ll need a remote control caddy.  This way all of the remotes for the DVD player, television, VCR, TiVo, and the stereo system are located in one place.  He’ll require comfy slippers and a soft pillow for his head to enjoy his morning in style.

For the retiree who has no idea what they want to do, give them some suggestions in that department.  Fill a gift basket with items that inspire possibilities for the next twenty or thirty more years of his or her life.  They can start a garden, learn to play an instrument, or take a trip for starters.

Package your gifts according to the theme you choose.  Gardening items can fit in a flower pot.  Items for a getaway to a favored destination can fit in a travel tote bag.  You get the idea.

Retirement is not the end but a new beginning.  Encourage a newly retired person to enjoy life with a gift basket.
