They don’t prefer to be called secretaries anymore. More and more of the people who do this job are men. They like to be called administrative assistants, but for the purpose of the gift basket, we will call it Secretary’s Day. Here are some ideas for gift ideas for the person who helps you through it all.

Secretary’s Day is the Wednesday that falls during the last full week of April. This day is used to acknowledge all of the administrative assistants who toil away endlessly in offices all over the world. They are there early in the morning to finish that report for a last minute meeting. They collate reports for the big visit from corporate headquarters. They even remember your spouse’s birthday gift even if you didn’t.

An administrative assistant wears many hats and they deserve to be applauded. So, when Secretary’s Day rolls around don’t forget to give a gigantic gift basket for all they do.

Fixing up a Secretary’s Day gift basket is just like getting something for your wife for Mother’s Day. They don’t want anything pertaining to work or household appliances. What they want is something that they can use to relax or to use in their spare time.

With that in mind, here are some ideas. The basket doesn’t have to be large if the items in it are small. Maybe your administrative assistant is into opera or the theater. A small basket is needed for season theater tickets or a pair of opera glasses.

A sports fan would love to receive tickets to a local game. Along with that could be the trappings of a fan: foam finger, hat with logo, jersey, and T-shirt. They may be professional at work, but afterwards they like to let their hair down.

Don’t underestimate the value of an appreciative word. They will look on a giant card signed by all the staff as a validation of their hard work. Desk knick-knacks are allowed provided they say something about being “The World’s Greatest.”

Do you value the person who helps you get through every day at the office? We do too. Decorate that basket with words of love and respect like little tags that say, “Wonderful,” “Indispensable,” “Kind,” and “Conscientious.” He or she will give you a few tears for your trouble.
