Creating a Spicy Foods Gift Basket
Some people love to eat hot foods. I’m not talking about food piping
hot from the oven but food that has a spicy kick. Handling the taste
of spicy foods is an acquired skill. If there is someone that you
know who likes foods that are spicy, such a gift basket full of
those sorts of delectables would suit them just fine.
Spicy foods give off heat. People who eat them sweat and turn red.
No, they are not choking just trying to regain their composure. The
heat of spicy foods quickly spread across the tongue and through the
mouth like a brush fire.
As long as they can stand it, they will keep eating. For these brave
individuals, choose a red gift basket. It is the color of spice and
heat. Decorate the outside with plastic chili peppers and pictures
of flames shooting out of someone’s mouth. Anyone who sees the
basket will get the idea.
Spicy foods come in many forms. There is hot sauce for instance.
Some people don’t cook spicy but add the spice after the meal is
finished. Hot sauces come in mild to fiery hot. Tabasco is a popular
brand of hot sauce but if you look on the ethnic section of your
grocery store, there are some that are hotter than that.
Cooks who enjoy spicy food jazz up their meals with spicy
seasonings. For them, it is nothing to add a pepper or two to their
gumbo or favorite chicken dish. Include some bottles or packets of
crushed red peppers, cayenne peppers, and dried peppers. Stores sell
already dried varieties of peppers. They are used to flavor dishes
and are filled with some of the hottest seeds imaginable. It is not
the outside of the pepper but the seeds that supply the intense
heat.
You can’t include cooked meals in the basket, but you can stuff a
gift certificate or two to his or her favorite spicy cuisine
restaurant among the bottles and such. Now, they can expose someone
else to their way of eating. Throw in a bib and some Alka-Seltzer to
calm the stomach after a night of such intense eating.
Some spicy foods are so intense you’d swear your taste buds were
being singed. For the spicy food lover, be sure that the smoke will
rise from their ears with your gift basket.
