What you will be doing.  There are thousands of business websites on the Internet, but they do no good for the owner if no one knows about them.  Some website owners just don’t know how to promote their sites to bring Internet traffic to them. 

Website promotion businesses are just as numerous as website hosting services so you will need to set your business apart from the rest.  As a website promoter, you will supply the skills needed to teach budding Internet entrepreneurs how make a success of their venture.   

How to start.  Develop a business plan for your website promotion service.  Focus your business plan by choosing a niche market.  If you have knowledge of a particular area of business or a specific field of study, concentrate on promotions there.  Find out if the market is saturated with website promoters that specialize in your area.  If the market is no good for your first niche market idea, perform more research and choose another. 

Starting costs.  Most of your time will be spent on the computer so make sure that it is a new one outfitted with the latest software.  A fast Internet connection is beneficial to you.  Include a copier, fax machine, telephone, and printer.  The costs of starting a website promotion business encompass business website setup, advertising, and research. 

The expenses range from $2,500 to $3,500.  If you already own a fast computer system, the cost will decrease.  The bulk of the costs will be spent on advertising to find business.   

Skills needed.  Marketing skills are important.  You must create a convincing sales pitch that will bring people to your website to try your product instead of Brand A or B.  You will need to be creative in your approach.  Studying the approach of other companies will give you an idea of how different you must be.   

Once you acquire the clients, customer service skills become important.  Clients want to know that you take a personal interest in their business and are not just trying to make a quick buck.  Stay accessible to your clients. 


A service that promotes the success of other businesses can be profitable with the right marketing savvy.  Find a niche that has not been saturated and give it a try..
