Marketing Tactics and Opportunities

Marketing your business is essential. After all, if no body knows about your business, how will you make any money? If you’ve been in business for any length of time you’ve probably noticed that certain marketing tactics work quite well for you and others do not. The tendency is to stick with what works and let go of the rest. This is a good strategy, it saves resources and provides the best return on investment. However occasionally business owners become stuck in a marketing rut and forget to look at other marketing options that may in fact add a tremendous boost to their bottom line.

Direct Marketing. Many online business owners neglect the power of direct marketing and they could be missing out on a tremendous amount of profits and customers. Direct marketing takes many forms:

• Postcards
• Sales letters
• Coupons
• Brochures
• Newsletters

These items can all be printed and distributed to purchased, rented, or borrowed mail lists. When exploring direct marketing campaigns, start small. Direct marketing can be expensive. One of the most cost effective tools is the postcard. They’re inexpensive to mail and print. Spend time crafting a compelling offer, send it out to a hundred or more potential customers and track your results.

Article marketing is an excellent way to not only drive traffic to your website but to establish credibility as an expert and to generate publicity. Focus your time and energy on a few forums that are relevant to your business, visit them, read the registration rules and a few posts. If it feels like a positive group and you’re allowed to post your website in your signature when you register, go ahead and register. Forums and social networking venues give you an opportunity to both learn from others and to provide value. As relationships are made, businesses and opportunities grow.

Speaking engagements. Get involved in your local community. Do you have a small business association? Is there a free university of community education program where you can teach a class? Getting involved in your community and speaking to interested groups can be a tremendous boost to your business. It will increase local exposure, public relations opportunities, and expose you to a whole new audience of customers and prospects.

Getting stuck in a marketing rut, while comfortable, may in fact hamper your businesses ability to grow.
