Mary first discovered
Usborne
Books more than 8 years ago at a friend's home show.
She had
three young children and came to realize that it was less expensive
to build their library by becoming an independent consultant.
By
being a consultant, she received a ton of free books and started
making good money.
Now, Mary is a supervisor,
and she and her family haven't looked back since.

The inspiration to create the
WordArt business came out
of her love of technology and digital art. Those around her wanted to hire her
to share her creative and technical gifts - and the business grew from their.
Although, she has been operating as WordArt for
only four years, Mary has been publishing on the world wide web for over seven
years.
"Success comes from finding and keeping balance," says Mary,
"not just with your business and home responsibilities, but in all aspects of
life. "
For success on the Internet, Mary stresses the need for patience, above all
else. In addition, she says you need a good understanding of web culture, a
solid grounding of effective marketing both online and offline, a sense of
humour, creativity and a sense of adventure.
Of course, we want to know Mary's advice on getting a good search engine
ranking. Mary must have some clue about what she's doing. Just type in "Usborne
Books Canada" on Google and she'll be on page one. Mary says there is no
question that the effective use of meaningful meta tags and well chosen text
will eventually result in a good showing on most search engines. Well planned,
aggressive and strategic use of links and online directories will increase a
site's ranking. And don't forget patience!
Mary's story is particularly special because Mary has been the primary
breadwinner of the family for four years. For the most part, she has the support
of her husband and children to get her work done. She works long hours into the
night, but insists she never misses a school concert or soccer game. However,
she does try to miss as many early morning hockey practices as possible - but we
can all sympathize with that! Even with her busy life with three children, Mary
has managed to provide a comfortable lifestyle for her whole family.
Mary Scheidegger is a mother, wife and an active volunteer in her community. She
lives in Salmon Arm, BC, with her husband and three children. Ben is 11, Jenna
is 10 and Hannah is 8.
