Designing Your Website

Designing your website is very important to your online image.

Whether you design it yourself, purchase a template, or have hire someone to design it for you, it must be professional looking, easy to navigate, quick to load, and content rich.

Your website should be unique and interesting, but remember that it has to appeal to general audience with a variety of personal preferences.

Carefully choose your colors, layout, and theme. In the article, What Makes a Great Website?" you can learn all the necessary basics. You'll need a good navigation structure (the directories and links that allow visitors to find their way around your site), pages that load quickly, great content, and some interactivity.

Designing a Website Yourself?

You can design a unique site whether or not you are familiar with HTML (Hypertext Mark-up Language; the code used to write web pages).

Many hosting packages include an easy to use website builders but personally I wouldn't recommend them because you don't get any further guidance or help.

With this type of program you normally choose from a variety of stock design layouts and colors, select your graphics, and add your text. But the real details such as how to get traffic (visitors) to your website and so on are left up to you... not easy when you're starting out.

Building your first website is serious business and you want to make sure you get things right the first time around to avoid losing money and time.  I've put together a whole section on this topic including my top tips and recommendations for building a profitable website on line.  Click here to go learn how to build a website now.
