This week we want to talk a little bit about the skill every online business
owner needs – copywriting. It doesn’t matter how good your product is, if you
don’t have the right wording on your sales page you’re not going to achieve the
best results.
It’s interesting that many of us work on our SEO, article marketing, link
building and other business activities yet copywriting is one of those things
that often gets put aside for later.
If you’re just getting started, it can be a little daunting to know what words
to use or even what structure to write them in. This week we’re going to give
you a little insight to help you improve your copywriting skills or simply get
started.
And if you’re thinking copywriting is only for a select few who are naturally
talented, think again. Copywriting is an acquired skill. With a little practice
and hard work you CAN achieve great results. Here’s a copywriting formula which
will help you get started. It’s called the AIDA copywriting formula:
Attention – Your first goal should be to gain the reader’s attention. How do you
do this? By writing a strong, benefit-oriented headline that’s going to make
your reader want more - “Learn How to Quickly Lose Those Last 10 Pounds In 3
Easy Steps”
Interest – Now that you’ve grabbed your reader’s attention, it’s time to peak
their interest. Following the same principles of writing your heading, write a
subheading and introduction paragraph that will get your reader to take notice
and stay with you for the next step…
Desire – Your body copy should create desire in your reader. Talk about the
benefits of your product and just how those benefits will make your prospect
feel. Create a picture in their minds. Help them see how your product is just
right for them. When, and only when, you’ve achieved that move on to your final
step…
Action – Don’t be afraid to tell your reader what to do. They’ve stayed with you
this far, which means they’re interested in what you have to offer. Now close
the deal and get them to act. A strong call to action is precise and to the
point - “click here to instantly download your report” or “Click here to
guarantee your low rate.”
It does take a little practice and tweaking to get your copy just right, but the
most important thing is to get started. Take action and start writing that sales
page, you’ll never know how your prospects will react until you put it out
there.

Chicago. When that company, the second start-up she'd worked for in under two
years, ran out of funding and couldn't find a buyer, Karen was laid off and made
the decision to get off and stay off the corporate train.

Stuff-a-Friend of California. This is the 2nd time Stuff-a-Friend has changed
hands having been acquired by Beverly Hills Teddy Bear company last
September. Both companies offer "stuff your own" toy
