A Note From Mila




Eek my kids are off school on break for a week and I'm working around them. It's times like these when I'm really, really glad I'm able to work from home... so I can't complain there -- although we'll see if I feel the same at the end of the week ;-)


I have an exciting announcement for you. You may know that some months back I ran a survey asking subscribers what their number one question about building an online business was -- well the results were pretty shocking.


It seems a lot of you are struggling with the basics of building a business or on the flip side you've followed all the well meaning advice you've received and read all the books but still aren't really making the money you need. 


One of the survey responses really stood out to me, this one...

"Mila, Hi. I've been on the Internet now for about 2 years searching for some how some way to start a real business from home and achieve an authentic income I can be proud of. But that just isn't happening. Why? I've asked myself? I wish there was a genuine beginners corner or home base where all of us perpetual newbies could go and feel comforted by asking really dumb questions so that we could move forward."

There was actually a lot more to that email but some of it seemed a little personal and unfortunately the reader didn't leave her email so I couldn't get back to her, but that email was the one that finally inspired me to go for it and do something that would completely simplify the marketing process and give you the step-by-step help you need - instead of general ideas or untested theories.


I've been working around the clock to bring you a range of online business guides specifically written for beginners. Developing Your USP – Unique Selling Proposition

In a nutshell, your USP is what makes you unique and different from everyone else out there selling the same thing you are, because lets face it you’re going to have competition in any profitable market – the good news is that competition doesn’t have to affect you at all - IF – you position yourself properly from the start.  

When you set out to develop your USP ask yourself this question – why would your customer buy your product from YOU versus every Tom, Dick and Harry selling exactly the same thing you are? 

Now that’s actually a two-part question and to develop your USP you’ll need to answer BOTH questions… 

Why would your customer buy your product? 

This one is usually easy to answer and it’s also where most people stop.  The answer may be it’s already selling well for others, there’s a need for this product in the market, etc.  

But the second question is really the more important question, it’s the one that will develop your USP.  Why would your prospects by the product from you versus everyone else?  Your answer will be your USP and will determine how you position yourself in your market.   

Positioning yourself in your market the right way from the start will help you develop a following of happy customers who come to you for what you have to offer because they know they get that certain "something" from you they can't get elsewhere. Developing a strong USP will ensure your business stands out from the rest.

It may take a little thinking but please think about it because it’s this small exercise that will make your business a huge success or a poor memory.  Why not get a piece of paper and pen right now and make a list of what makes you unique from your competitors – what are you offering that isn’t already being offered? Why would they buy from you versus the competition?  Why you?  It’s a great exercise and will help you get a good handle on your market.
