Information Products - Overcoming "I'm Not a Writer" Syndrome
By Mila Sidman
You probably
already know that creating and selling your own information products is a sure
way to make money online... Unfortunately there are a few common hurdles that
stop business owners dead in their tracks. One of the most common hurdles is...
I'm not a writer
This seems to be
the most common reason for not creating a product and also the most unfounded
one. Here's why -- information publishing is all about providing solutions and
solving problems. The writing really does not matter. Online writing is also
casual and informal. This means that as long as your product is solving a
problem for the reader, you don't have to be an ace at grammar, you simply need
to find a way to share your information in a friendly, informal and easy to
understand manner.
As long as you do
that, you're on the right track. If you really feel you could use some help,
then you also have the option of hiring someone to edit your work.
If you're having
trouble knowing what to write or how to share your information, simply look at
other books on the market and the structure they're using. Use this as a guide
for structuring your own unique information. Another option to staring at a
blank screen and waiting for the words to come to you is recording your
thoughts.
Once you have your audio simply have it
transcribed and you can even have an editor go through it and structure it into
a more readable format.
Another easy and popular way to create your
first product is to conduct an interview or series of interviews with experts in
your market. Once you finish the audio interviews have them transcribed and you
have an instant product for sale.
Most experts are happy to give you an interview
provided you share their website and business information with your readers.
Honestly, writing online is really, really
different to anything else. Forget everything you were taught in English class
and simply concentrate on sharing your information. And keep in mind that the
easier your product is to write, the easier it will be for your audience to read
it. Next time thoughts of "I'm not a writer" fill your head, squash them once
and for all. Instead lay out your key information in bullet points, then go
through it and expand and add additional thoughts and you'll soon be on your way
to creating a winning product.
