Hi,
We hope you’ve had a great start to the New Year and are enjoying getting back
to work and starting to put all your new goals into
action.
If one of your goals is to get more traffic to your website, we have
a few more tips to share with you:
Last week we talked about doing your keyword research, setting
up a search engine friendly page and gave you a website checklist
to use when setting up a new website. If you missed that issue
you can find it in the newsletter archive here:
-> http://www.internetbasedmoms.com/newsletter-archives.htm
This week let’s talk about some effective ways to build traffic.
Blogs – Blogs are still a fantastic way to get traffic to your website
and build relationships with your visitors. Blogging is a great way
to provide regular, fresh content for the search engines.
And you don’t stress yourself thinking of witty, creative things to
say with every blog post. You can just have an announcement blog
where you post upcoming events or a copy of your weekly newsletter.
You can also use your blog to answer questions from subscribers.
If you think of ways to maximize your content then blogging really
won’t take up that much extra time.
And if you feel you really don’t have the time, why not try setting up a
community blog. This is a shared blog where several
contributors take turns making posts. The rules will
have to be clearly set out before starting but this usually works well
since you don’t have to worry about making regular posts and
everyone involved gets a link back to their site and exposure.
-------------------------------
Mila’s Blog Traffic Tip: When you link back from your blog to your website
try linking in to your site map rather than the home page of your blog.
this will help new site pages get spidered much faster since you’re
making it easy for the search engines to find all those new pages.
-------------------------------
Article Marketing – Definitely a great way to get incoming links, free
traffic and class yourself as an expert in your field. Writing and submitting
quality articles to online directories is a fantastic way to get all those
things.
The trick is to write inspiring, original articles. Go for a catchy headlines
that will inspire other online business owners to use your articles on
their sites. There are a lot of related articles out there and to stand
the best chance of being noticed you’ll need to produce good quality
articles. And don’t forget to submit to several directories.
------------------------------
Mila’s Article Traffic Tip: When you write and submit an article to the online
directories don’t worry too much about keyword research, instead
concentrate on writing a good article. Then once you submit the article
you can go back to it and optimize it for your chosen keyword phrase.
Why compete with all those other people out there for the same phrase
when you don’t have to?

Week in Review
According to the California newspaper, "North County Times Online Edition"
Seasilver USA has closed because, "because the founder said he was tired of
fighting the Federal Trade Commission." In 2003 the FTC filed a claim against
the company saying that products were sold using "false and misleading claims."
A substantial judgment was levied against the company and when they failed to
pay on time, the FTC was awarded another judgment for $120 million. The company
is appealing the decisions.
Seasilver's corporate website now reads, "It is with great sadness and regret
that we are forced to inform you that the business office of Seasilver USA, Inc
has been permanently closed," and goes on to assure customers that there are no
product recalls and product is likely still available from distributors.
