Hi,
We hope you enjoyed your weekend. In the past couple of months we’ve talked a
little bit about information products. Summer time is a great time to put
products together and develop your marketing strategy. If you’re still thinking
about creating your first information product, this is the time to do it.
One thing to keep in mind is that creating your product is the usually the
easiest part. Marketing and getting the word out is where the real challenge
lies. A lot of moms unfortunately spend weeks putting together the perfect
product but overlook the selling process.
So before you put any time into product creation, please consider these
important questions:
1. Who will you sell this product to? Do you have a list of prospects you can
promote your product to? If you don’t have your own list, can you JV with
someone in your target market who does and will they be willing to promote your
product in exchange for half the profits?
2. Do you have an affiliate program in place? Think about your affiliate program
early on. Put together articles and promotion tools to make it easy for
affiliates to promote your product.
3. Will you be promoting the product through Pay Per Click? If so, do your
keyword research early on to make sure you can advertise the product and make a
good return on your investment.
4. Is your product offering something different or unique? If you’re competing
in a crowded market, make sure your product has a little extra something
compared to the other products in the same market. This is especially important
if you’re counting on affiliates to help you promote your product. Give them a
good reason why your product is THE one to promote. Tip: Higher commissions
aren’t always the main motivator for good affiliates.
5. And finally, have you thought about the technical side of the order process?
Will you use a shopping cart or ClickBank or both? There are a lot of great
solutions out there and spending a little time finding the right one will save
you a lot of headaches later on.
We know it’s a lot to think about and it can seem daunting at first, but by
answering these questions early on, you’re ensuring your product will be
profitable once you put the work and effort into it. We would hate to see all
your hard effort go unrewarded. A good marketing plan should always be the first
step in creating a profitable information product.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll have more information on the information product
process including how to find product ideas, a step-by-step outline of the
marketing process and some other great information you won’t want to miss.

WAHM Talk Radio Notes from Kelly
Alice Seba, the Internet Marketing Sweetie, is my show this week. Yes - my show,
not just my guest. We talked for so long that I almost broke the interview in
half and was going to make you all wait for next week to hear the end - but
that's just cruel!
This Spring Alice shocked us all by putting her website, Internet Based Moms up
for sale. The question everyone has for her is 'Why would you sell a profitable,
popular website like that?'
Alice answers this question and many more on this week's show, so tune in and
learn more about how a successful internet based entrepreneur makes decisions
about her business.
