A Note From Mila
Hi,
I
hope you had a great weekend. Last week the kids went Trick or Treating and they
all looked so cute in their little costumes... unfortunately all that fun and
cuteness was followed by a few days of sugar overdose until mom finally had to
be the "meanie" and ration the candy! I snuck a few for me of course ;-)
This
week I have a favor to ask. Would you mind taking a few seconds to fill out our
short survey? It asks just one question - "What is your number one question
about marketing or working from home?"
We've already had some great replies and if you've submitted a question, we will
definitely be answering those over the coming weeks. Keep your eyes on the forum
and expert blogs. We're also working on some free information specifically based
on the questions you've been asking.
Can
I ask you to take a quick minute and answer here?
http://www.internetbasedmoms.com/survey.html
Please include as much information as you can and if you'd like feel free to add
your email and name so that we can contact you when we answer (it's not
necessary, however, and you can stay anonymous if you prefer).
Also
a quick note to say due to popular demand, we've added 5 new recipe packs to All
Private Label Content - each pack includes 30 lengthy recipes - you'll find a
holiday pack, vegetarian pack, healthy pack, kid-friendly pack and a diet pack.
Head on over to
http://www.AllPrivateLabelContent.com and grab a few, they're only 7.99 each
and you'll get automatic access to our private member's only forum too!
Our
holiday advertising page is also in full swing. We do have a few spaces left,
scroll down for more information on that great advertising special, WAHM talk
radio notes from Kelly and our featured success article. Have a great week!
That’s it from me; scroll down for
your featured article and to learn more about what’s happening in the work at
home mom community!
Wishing you much
success,

Using PLR "As
Is" - Is It a Good Idea?
By Mila Sidman
Just recently I received a
question from Mara – she asked:
"When beginning to use PLR
content, is it better to use it basically "as-is" or is it better to make it
your own by editing it? I know if you use it "as-is," it might cause some
problems with the search engines, but would there be another reason for NOT
using them "as-is"?
Great question Mara, thanks for asking. In the past I’ve used PLR “as is” and
I’ve gotten good rankings for those pages. Your results will depend on several
factors including how old your website is, your current ranking, etc.
Although you can easily use PLR “as is” and get results, I recommend that you
add a little personality to the content for two reasons – one to spice the
writing up with your own thoughts and personality and two – to provide further
original content for your visitors.
The debate about duplicate content continues. I personally feel you can use PLR
content as well as reprint articles as long as you also balance it with original
content. If you build a “quickie” site with just PLR articles it’s probably not
going to rank as high as a site with a combination of different forms of
content.
A quick way to add original content to your articles is to provide editor notes
– add a short introduction about your thoughts on the specific issues or what
your personal views are on the article. You can also simply rewrite the
introduction and the closing or add a few extra paragraphs to flesh out the
article.
The bottom line is that starting with a PLR article (for most of us) is easier
than staring at a blank screen and starting from scratch. It can really help you
get started and that’s the main thing.
Another one of my favorite uses of PLR content is to bundle it up into either a
free or paid ebook or report. This won’t have any bearing on the search engines
at all and can help you get started on that product you haven’t had time for.
Your visitors will also appreciate free content packaged into a nice little
ebook. Add some additional notes or pages of your own and you’re on your way!
I hope this helps and if you have any reservations about using PLR content all I
can say is that I’ve used it on my own sites (including Internet Based Moms).
Here’s a great little article about duplicate content you may find interesting
as well –
