Business Etiquette - Quick Tips for Work at Home Moms
Are You Busy?
It is wonderful to be able to work out of the home,
especially when raising children. There are many
advantages to having a home office, however, there can be
disadvantages as well. For example, if you worked in a
corporate office, family and friends would not dare to come by
and interrupt you during the workday.
Just because you are at home, doesn’t mean that the same standards
do not apply. If you are interrupted by personal phone calls
or visits to the house, it is not considered poor etiquette to
gently explain that you would really love to catch up, but are
working on a project or have a deadline. It would be
beneficial to tell them what time you will be free or find out
what works best for them. Don’t worry if you have to repeat
this message several times…eventually visitors will realize that
during your business hours, you are typically unavailable.
