Using a No Frames Tag
Updated April 2004
By Alice Seba
Having a website with frames can cause all
kinds of problems for website users and search engines. In
general, frames are not recommended.
Frames Cause Problems for Your Visitors:
> Your visitor cannot bookmark pages or add them to their favorites.
The bookmark will always point to your home page, which might not be
the page they want to bookmark.
> They limit the viewing space your visitor has on the page.
|
> Often when a search engine lists your framed
page, it will display without the frame on the
left...meaning your visitor will not be able to see the
navigation menu.
Frames Pose Problems for Search Engines
trying to Index Your Website:
Some search engines cannot read frames and so you need
to use a NO FRAMES tag so a search engine can read the
information in there.

The same applies when a visitor uses a web browser that
doesn't support frames. You need to use the NO FRAMES tags, so
your content can be displayed.
This is a NO FRAMES tag:
