Blogging is a
very popular hobby for Internet lovers. Those who aren’t
blogging are likely reading other people’s blogs. But did
you know that a blog is a great way to promote your service
business? By using your blog to your advantage, you can
keep the lines of communication with your customers open and
make sure that they don’t forget about you and your
services.
If you make
your blog a worthwhile read and update it frequently, your
visitors will come back for more. Many blog lovers
subscribe to their favorite blogs through feeds, which let
them know when your blog is updated so that they can read
each entry soon after it is posted.
This makes your
blog a grand opportunity to keep your business in front of
the eyes of your current customers and potential customers.
While your
business blog should be personable enough that your readers
can relate to you, it should still be professional in
nature. You could include articles that relate to your
field, updates about your business, and perhaps event
listings or other noncompeting website links that might be
of interest.
Personal
stories that tie in to your business are okay too, but avoid
blogging about how the kids are doing in school and such.
If you want to write about your personal life, start a
separate personal blog.
Another great
thing about blogs is the opportunity for interactive
discussion with your readers. If you allow comments on your
posts, your readers can give you feedback on them.
Many people
feel more comfortable commenting on blogs than sending you
an Email out of the blue, so allowing reader comments opens
the door for interaction that otherwise might not take
place. You can use this feedback to come up with new ideas
for your business or make improvements to what you are
already doing.
Blogs are a
wonderful tool for service-based businesses. When you are
not selling tangible products, customer relations are vital
to your success. Blogging gives you an inexpensive and
effective way to reach out to your customer base.
With the
huge popularity of blogs today, you don’t even have to
advertise heavily to gain readership. So if you don’t
already have a business blog, there’s no time like the
present to start one.
