If you are
running a home-based business, the use of business cards is
a must. A good business card will make your business look
more professional. Business cards are also easy to
distribute, and doing so will expose your business to more
potential customers.
Many business
cards are somewhat boring and unoriginal. You can use this
to your advantage by making yours stand out from the crowd.
There are several ways that you can make your business cards
stand out and be memorable.
One thing that
is very important is having complete contact information on
your cards. Your name, business name, address, phone
number, website address and Email are a must. A cell phone
number is also a good idea.
If you have a
logo, be sure to include it on your business cards. The
purpose of a logo is to establish branding and give people
something to remember you by, so of course it belongs on
your business cards. If you do not have one, shop around
and find a graphic artist who can design one for you. If
that’s not in your budget, there are online tools that will
allow you to create your own logo for free or at a low
cost.
If you can come
up with a catchy slogan, put it on your cards. People tend
to remember funny or witty slogans, and when a need arises
for your services that slogan might be the thing that
reminds them to call you. If you can’t think of one, you
might use a favorite quote.
While it can be
expensive to have full-color business cards printed, you
could consider doing something other than black-and-white.
One- or two-color printing is less expensive than full
color, and it will make your cards more eye-catching. You
could even do single-color printing on a colored card for a
nice effect.
The backs of
most business cards are blank, but it doesn’t have to be
that way. You could use that space for any number of
things. You could put your slogan or quote there if you
don’t have enough room on the front. Or you could put an
offer for a one-time discount to the bearer of the card. Be
creative and don’t let that space go to waste.
Once you have
your cards, be sure to distribute them every chance you
get. Ask local businesses if you can leave some in a
conspicuous place, put them in outgoing mail, and take them
to any seminars or conferences you attend. Your business
cards are a portable and powerful way to get your name out
there, but only if you get them in as many hands as
possible.
