Build a Website that Beats the Competition

 

How can you build a website that blows the competition out of the water?

How do you get more traffic, more sales and a more loyal following than other people in the same space?

Here are a few tips. 

=> Have a Newsletter 

If you don't have a newsletter, you'll have a very hard time building a following. Most people will just come to your website once and leave.

If you have a newsletter, you'll be able to follow up with your readers and build a relationship over the long run. If your competition doesn't have a newsletter and you do, you'll already be well ahead of your competition. 

=> Build Offline Relationships 

Online business deals are very often made offline. For example, in the internet marketing space a lot of traffic is driven via JV emails that are all made based on offline relationships. 

Speaking engagements, affiliate deals, getting your products on other people's sites, etc are all much more likely to happen offline than online. 

These can often result in high quality backlinks to your website that you would have never otherwise gotten. It's hard to get a PR5 link online, but if you build a relationship with the site owner offline, it's very possible if they respect what you're about. 

=> Update Consistently 

Have you ever had a favorite blog that all of a sudden stopped making posts? Or been on a newsletter that just stopped sending emails after a period of time? 

Even if they started to put out content again after a period of time, the magic is gone - Their audience is lost.  

To build an audience, you need to consistently put out great content. If you're a blog, a newsletter or a content site, that means putting out content at predictable intervals so your audience knows what to expect from you. 

If your site is a product or software, make sure you're updating your products and your features on a regular basis. 

=> Focus on Quality 

Companies that tend to do great in the long run focus on quality and customer satisfaction. Companies that tend to make a little bit of money then drop out of business are those to focus just on making a sale. 

Put out the best content you possibly can. Answer questions when customers ask them. Try and get your response time as low as possible.  

Above all else, make it your company's culture and brand to provide great content and service to your customers.

Do this and your customers will come back time and again as well as refer your site to other people. 

Every market has hundreds of competing websites.

To make yours stand out, deliver quality, update consistently, stay in touch with your customers with a newsletter and boost your business with offline relationships.
