=> Testing to See if You're
Included
The first step is to see if the
search engines actually know you exist or not. Typing in
your main keyword is not a good way to see if the search
engines know you exist yet, as your site could just be
ranking very low.
To find out if you're included yet,
just type in Site:yourdomain.com. This will pull up all the
pages that the search engine knows about. This technique
works on both Google and Yahoo.
If your site doesn't come up, that
means the search engine doesn't know you exist. If it pulls
up various pages from your site, then it means that you're
just not ranking well for your keywords yet.
=> What to Do if the Search
Engines Don't Know You Exist Yet
The main thing you need to do is get
backlinks. Search engines will follow backlinks from
websites they know about back to your site and index your
website.
Start by submitting articles to
article directories. Directories like EzineArticles,
SearchWarp and GoArticles are crawled regularly by Google.
If you submit 3-5 articles, you can almost definitely expect
to be indexed within a week.
Post a link to your site on
classified websites like usfreeads.com and Craigslist. These
are also crawled regularly. Although the content there will
be taken down in time, the goal is for it to just be up long
enough for search engines to discover your site.
Finally, install Google Analytics
and de-cloak your whois if possible. This will at least put
you on Google's radar. Although Google hasn't admitted it,
many SEO experts believe that Google regularly checks
registrars for new registrations. If your whois is cloaked
they won't be able to find your site.
If you follow these steps, then at
this point you should have a few links pointing back to your
website. That means that you've left enough of a trail for
any intelligent spider to find your site.
What you need to do then is just
wait. Make sure all your pages are interlinked so that when
the spiders do come, they'll index all the pages on your
site.

The process of getting indexed
can take as little as a couple days and can take up to a
few weeks.
Check to see if your site's been
indexed every couple days by using the site:domain.com
technique.
It's that simple - Just get as
many backlinks as you can from several different sources
and then wait for the spiders.
