Outsourcing Tasks To Your Kids for Extra Productivity and Less “I’m Bored”

If you have just begun a work-at-home business, there are a myriad of things to do. One of the things is to be able to advertise your business through off-line connections.

This is where outsourcing tasks to your kids for extra productivity and less “I’m bored” can play an important role.

Kids love to help mom, especially if it involves mom’s work. Additionally, it boosts the kids’ self-esteem and teaches them responsibility, discipline, and a work ethic that will become important for them as adults.

What type of outsource work would you hand over to your kids? As stated at the outset, you have a new business and need to advertise. Perhaps you have printed out hundreds of flyers that will be mailed to business associates, friends, and businesses in your area.  The kids can fold the flyers, place them in envelopes, and add postage. This time-consuming task will free up your time to advertise the business online.

For older kids, you can ask them to place the flyers on car windshields in the neighborhood, place the flyers in the windows of local stores, and post them in local supermarkets.

What else can you outsource? Let’s assume your business is product oriented, such as selling candles or mugs, as an example. This would entail putting boxes together to hold the candles and mugs as well as placing them in the boxes for shipping. This is another task that your kids can readily do while you are taking orders on line.

As the kids become more acquainted with your business, and you want to give them more responsibility, you may want to teach them how to take inventory of the items you have on hand using a checklist that you’ve created.

While there are a variety of ways in which you can outsource tasks to your kids, the bottom line is that apart from keeping them less bored, you are teaching them how a business operates from the ground up, organization, management, and a work ethic that will be invaluable to them if they decide to start a business in the future.
