Making Good Use of Your To Do List
|

If you are a work-at-home mom or
generally rely on lists to ensure all the tasks needed to be
done are completed, having a to do list is part and parcel
of time management and organization.
Sometimes, however, we have so many to
do lists that it defeats the original purpose. Making good
use of your to do list can be accomplished in several ways.
|
Microsoft Works has a wonderful section in which you can create a
to do list for just about any home project. If you have the time to
use this feature, it is well worth it since you can name your
project and track any task that needs to be completed.
You may prefer to use note books, daily organizers, or if you are
really ambitious you may want to utilize a 3-ringed binder in which
you can add and remove pages, label each section with a project
heading, and use different colored pens or highlighters to
distinguish between business, personal, and special events that may
require action.
Perhaps you have a business background in which lists have played
an important role. If so, you know that prioritization is the key to
success. For some, putting together a master list of projects and
then separating them according to importance can be helpful. In
addition, sub-lists can help the organization process as well.
For example: Let’s assume you have a work-at-home business. You may
wish to categorize your to do list in the order of importance such
as: time spent on business activities, down-time, time spent with
family, and personal time. Each heading would require a sub-list to
ascertain what needs to be scheduled and how much time will be
allotted.
Of course, you may have already chosen a unique way to make your to
do list more effective and organized. The key, however, to good time
management and organization is to begin with your goals and how you
envision achieving them.
Sometimes we get so caught up in lists, we need lists to offset the
original lists. It need not be that complicated. Once you start with
a plan, you can perfect a to do list to meet your needs. Everyone
has different challenges in life; the key is to generate a plan and
stick to it. Whether it’s using a computer program, or simply
putting together a well-organized compilation of tasks that you can
work with on a daily basis.
Making good use of your to do list is the first step. By
implementing the tasks on the list, not only will you utilize each
minute of every day successfully but you will have refined your
organizational skills to achieve the best outcome.
