Making “Me” Time a Priority For Your Personal Care and
Well-Being

How much time do you take out of the
day for you? Making “me” time a priority for your personal
care and well-being is something we can all benefit from but
hardly take time to really think about.
|
If you were asked to sit down and list
everything you do in the course of a day, would you be surprised at
the amount of time you devote to you? In most cases, the answer
would probably be: “Wow, I never realized how little time I have for
myself!”
Try a little experiment and write down all the things you have to do
in a typical day. How much time is left for you; probably not much,
right? Now is the time for you to prioritize your day so that you
can take care of your personal care and well-being.
When was the last time you read a good book, or shopped for new
clothes at the mall? When was the last time you took a few hours to
give yourself a home manicure, pedicure or facial? When was the last
time you had lunch with friends or just went for a walk in the park
or a movie?
As a mom, you juggle many tasks at once; and it is understandable
that you may not have time to engage in the simple pleasures of
life. But, allotting time for you is essential to your physical and
mental wellness.
Here are some ways in which you can set some time aside for you:
• Utilize a calendar for daily tasks and “pen” in “me” time.
• Make arrangements for a family member to watch the kids so you can
take a few hours out of the house for “me” time.
• Have your spouse watch the kids on a Saturday afternoon and have
lunch with friends, go to a movie, or the mall.
• Have your spouse put the children to bed while you soak in a long
hot bath utilizing your favorite essential oils. Light some
aromatherapy candles as well.
• Take a walk on a Sunday afternoon to your local park and just sit
and either read a book or enjoy nature.
• A Sunday drive to no place in particular, but just as a way of
spending some alone time is another important aspect of “me” time.
Surely, there are many other ways in which you can make “me” time a
priority in your life for personal care and well-being. The trick is
to convince yourself that you deserve it.
