Working Out During and After Pregnancy to Stay Fit
|

Studies have clearly shown that women
who begin an exercise program in the early stages of
pregnancy may not only be more comfortable during pregnancy,
but may also contribute to a labor that is short in
duration. Working out during and after pregnancy to stay fit
can, according to experts, be achieved by engaging in the
following exercises. |
Walk every day, whether it’s for 20 minutes or
longer. If you love swimming, experts assert that this is the best
form of physical exercise for pregnant women since it alleviates
pressure on the joints and has less risk than other exercises. In
fact, swimming is also recommended after pregnancy as well.
Also recommended for pregnant women is aerobics. Whether you join a
gym that has specific exercises designed for pregnant women, or
workout at home, it is suggested that you avoid high-impact
exercises and utilize low to medium workouts regularly.
Another exercise that is particularly beneficial during and after
pregnancy is bike riding. Although experts suggest that the use of a
stationary bike at home is better suited as it safer than riding a
bike outdoors.
There are a variety of low-impact workouts on DVDs that are
wonderful for pregnant women. Moreover, these DVDs can then be used
after pregnancy wherein a mom can increase the workout stages from
low to high impact.
Studies have also shown that continuing a fitness program after
pregnancy may decrease the chances of developing post-partum
depression and increase the circulatory system to maintain good
health and well-being. It is also recommended that a diet regimen be
incorporated along with an exercise routine.
Some experts also suggest weight training during pregnancy. This
allows for the strengthening of the bones and reduces the risk of
osteoporosis.
Finally, Yoga classes have also been suggested for moms after
pregnancy. You can easily sign up for classes and bring your baby
along as well. It is a wonderful meditative practice to reduce
stress, relieve tension, and develop techniques that have also been
said to alleviate post-partum depression.
No matter what work-out you choose, remember to stay hydrated by
drinking plenty of water during any exercise routine. Also, select
those work-outs that are not too intense that they may put you in
harm’s way.
